New media technologies has changed and is continuously changing the way audiences consume the media by providing more options of experiences to the world today. Audiences are slowly getting more involve as these new media technologies are programmed to entice the on growing digital generation. Media these days can be consumed anywhere and anytime.
New media refers to content available on-demand through the Internet, accessible on any digital device, usually containing interactive user feedback and creative participation. Common examples of new media include online newspaper,blog and social media.The emergence of new media enables people around the world to share, comment on, and discuss a wide variety of topics. Unlike any of past technologies, New Media is grounded on an interactive community.
However, the introduction of new media technologies is creating a socially awkward generation.The reason behind this is that audiences has become to dependent on media when it comes to social interactions. Many preferred media interaction because they had more time to construct a response or statement than they would have had in a real conversation and when it comes to real life conversations many would stumble with their words or not say anything.
The easy accessibility of new media technologies for example through mobile phones at anytime and anywhere is encouraging addiction towards new media.When was the time last time you avoided using your phone during a catch up session with your friends?

With the existence of new media the existing media has been thriving to survive.One common example of old media is newspaper/magazines. Consumers has turned from existing media to new media as its more convenient and it's free! While specific types and segments have and will continue to be negatively affected by new media, as a whole, and over a lengthy period, old media have found ways to survive in the presence of new media. So even with all the excitement generated by the explosive growth of the Internet and its exciting capabilities, it shows us that old media continue to survive and prosper.
